MVHI Sponsors Health & Fitness Expo

The Mohawk Valley Heart Institute (MVHI) will again sponsor the Health & Fitness Expo and a Cardiac Risk Assessment Booth as part of America's Greatest Heart Run/Walk.  The Expo is being held on Friday, March 7 at the Utica College gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and will feature a variety of health-related exhibits.

The Risk Assessment booth will provide free cardiac health screenings from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., which will include: blood pressure reading, cholesterol reading with a breakdown of LDL and HDL, triglycerides, and blood glucose measurement.  Counseling on the results will be provided by various healthcare professionals.

Also available at the risk assessment will be pulmonary function testing provided by Mohawk Valley Community College, and the Tri-County Tobacco Cessation Center will give practical tips to help people quit smoking.

MVHI will have a booth that will display information about cardiac-care services available at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare.  This year, MVHI's booth will highlight cardiac catheterization and angioplasty services.

MVHI is a collaborative initiative between St. Elizabeth Medical Center and Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, which provides cardiac care services at both campuses.
