Director Of Cardiac Services Earns Top Healthcare Management Credential

Halsey M. Bagg, FACHE, Director of Cardiac Services at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, recently became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation's leading professional society for healthcare leaders. Mr. Bagg is also Co-Coordinator, Mohawk Valley Heart Institute.
"Because healthcare management ultimately affects the people in our communities, it is critically important to have a standard of excellence promoted by a professional organization," said Thomas C. Dolan, PhD, FACHE, CAE, president and chief executive officer of ACHE. "By becoming an ACHE Fellow and simultaneously earning board certification from ACHE, healthcare leaders can show that they are committed to providing high-quality service to their patients and community."
Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. In fact, only 7,500 healthcare executives hold this distinction. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional/community involvement. Fellows are also committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years.
Mr. Bagg is privileged to use the FACHE credential, which signifies board certification in healthcare management and ACHE Fellow status.
Mr. Bagg worked at United Health Services Hospitals in Binghamton prior to coming to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he had been administrative director of oncology, cardiology, emergency and trauma services. Before that, he worked in various professional and administrative capacities at hospitals in Jacksonville, FL; Johnson City, TN, and Rochester, NY.
He was born and grew up in Oneonta but traces his family roots to Utica, where his great grandfather, John Bagg, had been a partner in a Utica cheese business and is the tenth generation descendant of Moses Bagg, one of the original inhabitants of Utica (Bagg's Square).
Halsey Bagg attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, where he obtained a BA in math before going on to Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, where he earned both BS and Master's Degrees in health systems.
Mr. Bagg is a board member of the American Heart Association, and a member of the American College of Cardiology Administrators.
He and his wife, Jo-Ann, reside in Utica. They are the parents of four children.
